Looking back at your notes from this week's lesson, was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?
Getting to Know You
Evangelism has taken many forms over the years- everything from tent revivals, to tele-evengelists, to door-knocking. When you think of evangelism, what do you think?
Can you remember when you were first involved to church?
One of the first things we should understand about evangelism is that its invitational not confrontational. In fact, God Himself calls people to Him without forcing anyone to respond. Please read the following Bible verse about invitation.
Acts 17:26-27 (NIV)
26 From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. 27 God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us.
Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
John 12:31-33 (NCV)
31 Now is the time for the world to be judged; now the ruler of this world will be thrown down. 32 If I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw all people toward me.” 33 Jesus said this to show how he would die.

Are you or someone you know successful at inviting people to church and/or to study the Bible? What are some of the things they do that work for them?
Lets face it, sharing our faith is challenging. The good news is that we can start with our friends; we have plenty of people we already know who need Jesus! We dont have to always approach strangers. Please read the following passages about looking after our friends.
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.
Proverbs 18:24 (NIV)
One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than brother.
Ezekiel 33:6-9 (NLT)
6 But if the watchman sees the enemy coming and doesn’t sound the alarm to warn the people, he is responsible for their captivity. They will die in their sins, but I will hold the watchman responsible for their deaths.’
7 “Now, son of man, I am making you a watchman for the people of Israel. Therefore, listen to what I say and warn them for me. 8 If I announce that some wicked people are sure to die and you fail to tell them to change their ways, then they will die in their sins, and I will hold you responsible for their deaths. 9 But if you warn them to repent and they don’t repent, they will die in their sins, but you will have saved yourself.
We would gladly save our friends lives from disease or danger if we could do so with just a simple word. With the gospel, we can save souls doing just that! These passages remind us that salvation is a life or death matter and we can lead people to salvation with just a few simple words about Jesus. Why is it that we find it so hard to open our mouths?
